Peace Prize

For many, many years now the Nobel Prize has been aworded to people that have managed to create something big or dared to be different.

Nobel was Swedish and almost all of his prizes has been recieved in Sweden yet one has been given out in Norway (expect for the Peace Prize…

.Now there’s this debate about allowing the Swedish board to pick the winner for the Peace Prize as well. Some experts say that those who so far has been aworded the Peace Prize wouldn’t have been given it and that it doesn’t correspond to Nobel’s thinking.

Maybe I’m not the one to judge but do think that all of them really deserved the prize ? And would it really be better if the Swedish Nobel Committee did the nomination instead of Norway ? 

It’s a cultural thing

in some cultures people alters their bodies and even decorates it with tattoos , piercings and plastic surgeries… In other cultures the same things could cause dissaproval because it may be associated with something different. But hey, I confess that I’m no better then anybody else I’m also addicted in this “new” trend… but does it really matter what label your clothes are or if you follow the latest fashion trends?

A high demand causes the price to raise… we all know that, I guess. But isn’t it a bit silly how many some people are willing to spend to decrate their bodies while some people, many I assume might not even have food for the day, children might not be able to attend school and may have to work instead. Many might end up as young brides , and then there are also those who are forced to work for almost nothing…

I guess it’s worth some thinking because it does put things into perspective…

Lost generation

Less children these days are involved in sporting activites nevermind, that some of them are more expensive then others like ice hockey, soccer, tennis or golf.  Instead of plying soccer with your friends after school children nowadays seems more likely to stay indoors locked up in their rooms occupied with computer games. There’s no need to met and play with your friends in person not when you can hook up online and if you ever would need to talk with them you could call or text them or why not use Skype…

This is a problem of increasing concern since many sport clubs are having to tackle the problem of fewer people = less income. How are you supposed to get the younger generations still not in their teens interested in sports and outdoor activites ? X – Box 360 or Playstation doesn’t count as a sport activity at least not now…

Will we have no more Wayne Gretzky’s, Maradonas, Tiger Woods or Ian Thurpe’s ???

Is this a problem linked to the fastfood’s growing popularity, the current reccession, the lack of time or the fact that technology and computer games these days are much more advanced ?

Acta agreement

Acta is supposed to protect us from illegal copies of label goods as well as hackers so far so good… But this actually something that seems to only favour the Western and industrialized world from getting fake goods and illegall copies of copyright material.

But what about the other things that might get affected by this deal, like African people who suffer from AIDS and HIV, can we really expect them to be able to pay as much for the real medication… What will happen to these people now ? These people now risk getting no treatment and the likelihood of an increasing spread of HIV and AIDS is likely to increase even more.  This could mean that HIV and AIDS spread in Africa will begin to increase and more children and infants risk becoming orphans…

Again – is fake copies really such a bad thing, what if it could potentially save a life ? It seems like this law is created as a protection against     fake goods solely for purpose of the West. It’s true that money should matter but is it really such a big deal ?

I wonder what the consequences of this law will bring…

Seen from one perspective this law could be useful, I’m not saying that isn’t. But at the same time it does seem like something that West created to protect their money and themselves from fake goods that obviously isn’t worth as much, Right ?

Crazy things

Have you heard about the Korean women that became addicted to plastic surgery and somehow ended up injecting cooking oil into her face ?

Or about the young man who died while playing a video game and nobody not before his computer time was up… Apparently that unfortunate guy died of heart attack because of a heart condition. But he was way too young…

Or what about the Swedish guys who decided to create a Jeans label with production in North Korea… Apparently they’re called NoKo Jeans… Would you buy them or not ?

And more serious things now; Greece may be forced to leave EMU and return to drachmer… Have you ever been to Greece ?

And Whitney Houston suddenly died, Kevin Costner delivered a speach on her funeral service…

Why do we spend so much time on shallow things like shopping, appearance and things caused by what I think is consumerism which basically is a phenomenon created by the industrialization in the West… Life’s to short to worry about things like that, you never know when life will end…

Gender neutrality

For the first time ever there’s an fictional character in book described as hen a mix between han and hon… Is that really neccessary ? Do you think society dictates childrens gender roles by its assumptions and presumtions ? Women and girls should look cute and where dresses, makeup and long hair. While boys and men should try to provide for their family, be able to protect their family and relatives whenever needed, work out in a gym regularly and don’t show any emotions in public…

There are a few families that have decided to not let the friends and family know the gender of their child… because they claim they want protect the child against gender roles that society has assigned us. Is it a good or a bad move ?

Pink are for girls blue are for boys. Girls should play dressup and house while boys should play with cars and lego. Some daycare centres have decided to not use him and her and instead call the children a person. And some daycare centres makes no difference between girls and boys, at least in Sweden.

Would you raise your child with consideration to gender neutrality ?

Royal heirs in the 21th century

Despite the fact that we have moved into the 21st century 12 years ago many countries are still monarchies, like Sweden, Denmark or Norway for exampel. But there are more then just three monarchies around the world. I think so far that Norway seems to be the most contemporary monarchy so far – because the Crown Prince of Norway didn’t let his own impotance stop him from falling in love – and marry for love. What makes it so remarkable is that thw woman he choose came from a simple background and she had already been married before and had one child from a previous marriage. Now they are blessed with two children of their own and their firstborn daughter will become the future queen of Norway as she is next in succession to the throne.

Sweden’s monarchy consists of our current King his wife the Queen and their three children, the Crown Princess, the Prince and the Princess and also the Crown Princess husband the prince. And soon they are to become first time parents…

What about Denmark then well both the Prince’s seemed to have found love rather late – the younger Prince had been a divorcee and father to two young boys when he met his second wife. With her he so far has one son and very recently he also had a daughter with his new queen. The Crown Prince did marry a few years ago and he seemed rather happy to be the father of a son and a daughter a few years ago they did actually become parents to fraternal twins.

Like Sweden and Denmark, Spain’s next over the monarchy will be a queen as the eldest child of the current Spanish King was a daughter – Crown Princess Elena. She also has a younger brother and sister, All three of them are married and have several children of their own. The Netherland’s have a queen as ruling monarch but her heirs are the three sons – the Princes.

Is monarchial rule an ancient thing that threatens democracy and equality ? Or is it a good thing ?

Overfishing and whaling

In times like these when experts disagree about what you should eat; eat less meat, cut down on fast carbohadrates  (white floor, rice , potatoes & pasta) , eat more protein to burn fat, eat more fish or vegetarian meals… and so on.

Of course fish is healthier than red meat and maybe even chicken. But consumer’s growing demand of fish like cod , tuna, salmon and Baltic herring means that these fishes are overfished and if something doesn’t change they may become endangered species and eventually extinct… Did you know that tuna is overfished because of the increasing popularity of sushi ? There’s supposedly only one fish that still exists and lives in abundance and that would be the monkfish a very ancient fish in fact.

Whales too risk the same destiny as some fishes do even though many environmental organizations have condammed it and many countries thinks it is unlawful there are still two countries that counties to hunt whales. And that would be Japan and democratic Norway…

Facebook

Facebook is already a business estimated to be worth millions of dollar, they even created a rather succesful movie about it… Now when everyboy seems to have it, it seems that it has become an addiction something that we love to hate. And we’ll now in 2012 they are supposely preparing to entering the stockmarket….

And apparently Facebook is the thing we love to hate or hate to love, and some has even said Facebook is more addictive then narcotics. Everybody has it and uses it.

Apparently some people seems to take Facebook far too seriously… since it seems to be the cause of at least one murder so far. So be careful with who you friend and be more careful when deleting them…
