The King’s Speach starring Colin Firth

Colin Firth is one of my favorite actors. And above all he’s British, and I do love that English accent. He’s most recent movie is The King’s speach opposite Helena Bonham Carter, as the Queen, and Gefforey Rush as well as Guy Pearce. And yes Jennifer Ehle from Pride and prejudice has a minor role in this movie.

And the Wallis Simpson and her prince Edward also appear and Eve Best does a wonderful job portraying the Dutchess of Windsor.

Love

How do you define love? What’s love to you? Do you believe in eternal love, love at first sight and soul mates?

Have you acknowledged the fact tomorrow’s a big date for some (like the British) since prince William and Kate Middleton will be tying the knot tomorrow. Guess not.

And the following has little to do with love, but Mr Putin is currently on a visit in Sweden’s capital city…

Below a selection of love in different languages.

Me amas vin, Woi ai ni, S’agapo, Kimi o ai shiteru, Ti amo, J’etaime, Te quiero…

Tempus fugit

The quote below really does summarize what life’s all about and coincidentally it’s a famous song Times a wastin, by none other than Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash.

Tempus fugit, the times they are a changing…

Fresh from the owen

Below and above a random selection of some alluring dishes and sweets…

So I’ve been pretty busy with life but I still managed to make many new treats fresh from the owen. Some old fashioned classic traditonal cookies (Swedish style), some newfound favorites some bread and some cupcakes. About the cupcakes let me tell you that baking from American recepies is a minor challenge

  1. they use American measurments
  2. sometimes it’s hard or impossible to find that particular ingredient

Veni vidi vici

I really wish that I for once could use quote without having to justify or explain myself. Because Latin supposedly is a World language. And this quote is one Caesar’s quotes the Julius Caesar… But exactly when could you use this famous quote ?

Veni, vidi, vici – I came, I saw , I conquered.

Veggies or meat

Veggies or meat? What do you think is the best choice to eat veggies (be a vegan or vegetarian) or to continue eating meat? What do you feel is the most suitable choice for the environment and the future? What do you think of real fur and leather? Is fashion more important than animal cruelty and sustainable development?

Sum quod sum

Latin usually sounds pretty good, like soft music (at least to me). But the following quote isn’t one I really like. Can you guess why?

Sum quod sum,

you will be what I am.

Messed up people

What’s normal? Is it to be like everyone else to conform while still maintaining a certain level of independence without standing out too much ? I don’t know. Some people say adoptees and immigrants are messed up people… I’m not so sure about the validity of that particular claim.

If you have too high expectations that isn’t being fulfilled , that should put anyone under the water. Really is it so hard to understand? Seems like it. That’s to bad, adoptees are misunderstood….

Cakes & Bread

Red Velvet                                                                                      Lemon Meringue pie

Key Lime pie

The pictures above is of actual pastries that I made yet they didn’t end up like those.

I like baking and prefer baking over eating anything sweet, period. Cupcakes is an easy thing that isn’t that time consuming. Pies are also rather easy while cakes like Lemon Meringue pie and Red velvet cake was a p9tential challenge.

For the easter cookies I needed a bottle of red wine, to boil with raspberries and  coincidentally we already had two bottles of red wine laying around. I eventually choose a nice 2009 Spanish wine from Bretagne. And I only needed 1 dl of the wine…

That recepie is called Hallongrottor in Swedish, I also made a batch of Drömmar as well, as a silly attempt to make macroons.

Turn back time

Have you ever wished it would be possible to turn back time like they do in Harry Potter and Back to The Future ?

I both have and have not. I’d like to change some things of my life but by changing it nothing is the same… another wonderful contradiction…
